What is SEO?

SEO stands for Search Engine Optimization, this is a way of increasing the quantity and quality of traffic to your website through organic search engine results.

Why do people need Search Engine Optimisation? The answer is fairly simple: to get their business online and out there to potential customers. With so many ways of doing this nowadays, it can be a little daunting.

A search engine is awebsite you go to in order to search for something specific, you would probably visit Google, Bing or what other search engines you use.
Once you type the words you want to search for in the search engine you will then be presented with a whole host of websites you can visit on your chosen words.

Have you ever considered how this happens andwhy you would want to insert keywords into your website?

So Google has a crawler that goes around and gathers information about the content they find on the Internet.
The crawlers will then start to build and index whihc is then fed through an algorithm that tries to match your query, this is know as the Search Engine part of SEO.

What about Optimization?

This is were the people who write the content that goes on your website are using specific keywords so that the content for the search engines are able to understand what they are seeing.

Optimization can take different forms. anything from title tags to meta descriptions. There are many different ways of researchng for keywords which we will cover in another post and this will help write SEO-friendly pages and help search engines understand your content.
